I have a strange but relevant memory about my grandparents' passion for collecting porcelain figurines and the way they took care of them. I have a paralell feeling about the multiplying genre-statues in the city (Budapest). I am interested by their utterly clear and easily consumable meaning and their popularity.
In this series I applied the genre-statues' simple narrative that aspire to be pretty, but put aside the (sometimes) sugary, light topic and replaced it with my personal experiences that impelled me to think and contemplate this year.
THE PET KEPT FOR THE SAKE OF DELIGHT
2016 I painted ceramic I 8,5 x 16 x 14 cm
My work "The pet kept for the sake of delight" was called into existance by meditating upon the extinction of instinctual actions in life.
GIRL WATCHING AN ANT / ON THE LEDGE
2016 I painted ceramic I 25 x 17 x 26 cm
In this work, an ant (that naturally lives in colonies) is wandering around alone from wall-to-wall (from foot-to-foot). It marches to and fro tireless on a ledge without realising that it's running around in circles.
TOGETHER IN A PORTABLE TOILET
2016 I painted ceramic I 49 x 45 x 29 cm
This is about a hot, shameless, obscene day and a "couple" that is way too underage.
